Dalhousie Orthopedic Arthroplasty Fellowship

Where—Halifax Nova Scotia QE II HSC
When—July 1 – duration 1 year

This fellowship is a  well run veteran program that has been registered with the COA since 1992.

The QE II  is one of the premiere academic Arthroplasty programs in the country. There are four dedicated Arthroplasty surgeons with 4 additional surgeons performing a significant portion of the primary arthroplasty done in the region.

The fellow will be expected to be part of the arthroplasty team and will be expected to take part in Arthroplasty rounds and grand rounds.

The fellow will understand and be able to effectively utilize numerous primary and revision systems. The training will include the indications and techniques involved in insertion of acetabular  cages, captured cups and hinge knees.

The fellow will be expected to understand the treatment of significant bone loss in acetabular and femoral revisions as well as the treatment of  the infected arthroplasty.
The majority of fellows obtain a successful academic position upon completion of this fellowship.

Dalhousie Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship

Where—Halifax Nova Scotia QE II HSC
When—July 1 – duration 1 year

            Prof Of Surgery

This fellowship is a  well run veteran program that has been registered with the COA since 1992.

The QE II is a Level one trauma center that is one of the premiere academic trauma programs in the country.

The fellow will be expected to be part of the trauma team and will become skilled in the resuscitation of the trauma victim as well as have the ability to. triage patients effectively to the most effective treatment area.

The fellow will understand and be able to effectively utilize IM Nails, locked plates, spanning external fixator and DCP plates. The treatment of non unions and post traumatic deformities will ge detailed.

The majority of fellows obtain a successful academic position upon completion of this fellowship
